Propel, an African tech startup headquartered in Berlin, has raised €2.5 million in seed funding. The round was led by No Such Ventures, with participation from APX, Golden Egg Check, and the Future of Learning Fund. The FAST Accelerator, a Microsoft-backed program, has launched its second cohort of artificial intelligence (AI) startups. The program, which is designed to help African startups scale their AI businesses, will provide participants with access to Microsoft's AI resources, mentorship from industry experts, and a $100,000 grant. The program will run for 12 weeks, and applications are open until July 25, 2023.
According to a report by PitchBook, San Francisco companies raised $11.1 billion in AI funding in the first quarter of 2023, more than any other city in the world.
